How to install IPTV on a Firestick (UK guide)
The Firestick is the UK's favourite IPTV device: cheap, fast enough for 4K, and it plugs into any TV. This guide takes you from a fresh Firestick to watching live channels in roughly five minutes — no technical knowledge needed.
What you need
- ✓ An Amazon Firestick (any model — 4K recommended) plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi
- ✓ Your login details from us (sent on WhatsApp after you order or start the free trial)
- ✓ About five minutes
Step-by-step setup
- 1
Allow apps from unknown sources
From the Firestick home screen go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options, and turn on 'Apps from Unknown Sources'. If you don't see Developer Options, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, and click the device name seven times to unlock it. This is a standard Android setting for installing apps outside Amazon's store.
- 2
Install the Downloader app
Back on the home screen, use the search (magnifying glass) and type 'Downloader'. Install the orange Downloader app — it's free and on the official Amazon Appstore.
- 3
Enter the player app link
Open Downloader and type the short link we send you on WhatsApp. This downloads the IPTV player app we currently recommend — we keep the link updated so you always get the right version.
- 4
Install and open the player
When the download finishes, press Install, then Open. You can delete the installation file when prompted — it saves storage.
- 5
Log in with your details
Choose the Xtream Codes / API login option and enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome message. Double-check for typos — they're the number one cause of login errors.
- 6
Let the guide load and start watching
The channel list and TV guide download on first launch — give it a minute. After that, the app opens straight into live TV every time.
Settings worth changing
Power: plug the Firestick into a mains USB adapter rather than the TV's USB port. TV ports often under-power the stick, which causes stuttering in 4K.
Display: in Settings → Display & Sounds, set the resolution to match your TV and enable 'Match Original Frame Rate' — sport looks noticeably smoother.
Wi-Fi: connect to your router's 5GHz network if it has one. If your Firestick is far from the router, a cheap Ethernet adapter is the single best upgrade you can make.
Troubleshooting
The app says 'invalid login'
Almost always a typo. Re-enter the server URL, username and password exactly as sent — watch for O vs 0 and extra spaces. Still stuck? Message us and we'll check the line live.
Channels buffer at peak time
Restart the router, switch to 5GHz Wi-Fi, and force-close other apps on the stick. See our full buffering guide on the blog for the complete 10-step fix list.
Downloader won't install the app
Check 'Apps from Unknown Sources' is enabled for Downloader (Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install unknown apps). On newer Fire OS versions the toggle is per-app.
The stick feels slow since installing
Uninstall apps you don't use and restart the stick (hold Select + Play for 5 seconds). Firesticks slow down when storage is nearly full.
