How to Set Up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV (UK 2026)
Samsung Smart TVs run on Tizen, which — like LG's webOS — is more locked down than Android, so setting up IPTV on the TV itself works a little differently. Here is how UK Samsung owners get it running, plus the simpler alternative if your model is more restrictive.
Option one: a player app through the Samsung app store
Some Samsung models support a compatible IPTV player app available through the built-in Smart Hub store, which accepts a standard M3U playlist link or Xtream-style login. Availability depends on your TV's exact model year and Tizen version, so check the Smart Hub store first.
- Open the Smart Hub app store on your Samsung TV.
- Search for a supported IPTV player app.
- Install and open it.
- Enter the playlist URL, or username and password, exactly as sent by your provider.
Option two: use a Firestick or Android box instead
If your Samsung TV's app store does not offer a good player, or your model is a few years old, plugging in a Firestick or Android box via HDMI is the simpler and more flexible route. It gives you access to every player app covered on this site rather than being limited to Samsung's own store, and setup takes about the same five minutes either way.
Getting a stable picture
- Use a wired Ethernet connection where possible — Samsung TVs are often positioned close enough to the router to make this easy.
- If using Wi-Fi, connect to the 5GHz band for a steadier signal during peak viewing hours.
- Keep Tizen updated, since Samsung periodically changes how third-party apps behave after a system update.
If channels stutter or will not load
