IPTV Audio Out of Sync? How to Fix It (2026)
Watching a programme where the sound trails the picture, or arrives slightly early, is one of the more irritating IPTV issues — and thankfully one of the more fixable ones. Sync drift is nearly always a decoding or settings issue on your device rather than anything wrong with the stream itself.
Start with the simple restart
Audio sync drift often builds up gradually the longer an app has been running. Force-close your IPTV player completely rather than just switching channels, then reopen it and rejoin the stream. This alone fixes a surprising number of sync complaints.
Check your TV's own audio processing
Many Smart TVs add a small delay to audio when certain picture or sound modes are active, particularly "Game Mode", noise reduction, or virtual surround processing. These features process audio and video on slightly different timelines. Try switching your TV to Standard or Game picture mode and turning off any extra audio enhancement to see whether the drift disappears.
Fixes in order of likelihood
- Force-close and reopen the IPTV player app rather than just switching channels.
- Turn off extra audio processing on your TV or soundbar, such as virtual surround or dialogue enhancement modes.
- If you use a soundbar or AV receiver, check it for a manual audio delay or "lip sync" setting and nudge it in small steps until it lines up.
- Switch the app's audio track if the channel offers more than one — a secondary audio track is sometimes encoded slightly differently.
- Lower the stream quality by one step; heavier 4K decoding can occasionally lag behind audio processing on older hardware.
- Update your player app and your device's system software, since sync bugs are commonly fixed in routine updates.
If it only happens on one channel
Sync issues limited to a single channel, rather than the whole app, usually point to how that specific feed was encoded upstream. Try a different channel showing the same event where one exists, or flag the exact channel to support so it can be checked at the source.
Get it sorted properly
If you have worked through the device settings above and the drift persists, it is worth a second pair of eyes. This is a different issue to general stuttering or freezing — for those, see our buffering fix guide instead.
Existing customers, message support with the channel and device affected and we will check the feed. If you are still deciding on a provider, try the service free and check sync across a few channels before committing.
