IPTV No Sound? 8 Fixes That Work (2026)
A picture with no sound is one of the more confusing IPTV problems, because everything else looks like it's working. The cause is almost always an audio format that your TV, soundbar or app can't decode. It is rarely a fault with the channel itself. Work through these fixes in order, from quickest to most involved.
1. Check the obvious first
Make sure the TV isn't muted, and that the volume isn't turned down on a soundbar or AV receiver with its own remote. Then try a different channel. If other channels have sound, the problem is specific to that channel's audio format, and fixes 3 to 5 are the ones to focus on.
2. Restart the app and the device
Close the IPTV app fully and reopen it. If that doesn't help, restart the device. On a Firestick, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Restart, or unplug it for ten seconds. This clears a surprising number of audio glitches.
3. Switch the audio track
Some channels carry more than one audio track, and the default may be one your setup can't play. While the channel is playing, open the player's menu and look for Audio or Audio track, then try each option.
4. Change the Dolby setting on your Firestick
This is the most common fix. Many HD and 4K channels use Dolby Digital audio. If your TV or soundbar can't handle it, you get silence.
- Go to Settings → Display & Sounds → Audio
- Open Surround Sound (called Dolby Digital Output on older software)
- Change it from Best Available to PCM or Stereo
PCM is plain stereo that every TV can play. If sound comes back, you've found the cause.
5. Change the decoder in your IPTV app
Player apps can decode audio and video using the device's hardware or their own software. If one fails, the other usually works.
- TiviMate: Settings → Playback, then look for the audio decoder or AFR options and switch between hardware and software
- IPTV Smarters: Settings → Player Selection or Player Settings, then switch between hardware and software decoding, or choose a different built-in player
6. Check the TV's own audio output settings
In your TV's sound settings, look for Digital Audio Output or HDMI audio format. Set it to PCM rather than Bitstream or Auto. This matters most if you use a soundbar connected by optical cable, as many older soundbars only accept stereo PCM or basic Dolby Digital.
7. Rule out the soundbar or receiver
Switch the TV to its own internal speakers. If the sound returns, the issue is between the TV and the soundbar. Check the HDMI ARC or optical cable is firmly seated, and try the PCM setting above.
8. Update or reinstall the app
An outdated player can struggle with newer audio formats. Update the app, or uninstall and reinstall it, then add your login again.
If only one channel is silent
If you've tried everything and a single channel still has no sound while the rest are fine, it may be a fault at the source. Message us with the channel name and we'll check it at our end.
