IPTV on Sony Bravia TV: UK Setup Guide (2026)
If you own a Sony Bravia, you have one of the easiest Smart TVs to run IPTV on. Unlike Samsung and LG, which use their own systems, Sony's Smart TVs run Google TV (or Android TV on models before about 2021). That means the full Google Play Store and the best IPTV player apps, with no extra box needed.
What you need
- A Sony Bravia with Google TV or Android TV
- A broadband connection of around 10 Mbps for HD or 25 Mbps for 4K
- Your IPTV login details, sent in your welcome message
Install an IPTV player from Google Play
- Press Home on the remote and open Apps, or use the search
- Search for an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters
- Select Install, then open the app
- Choose to add a playlist using Xtream Codes login
- Enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome message
- Wait for the channels and TV guide to load, which usually takes under a minute
That's it. For a full walkthrough of the app itself, see our TiviMate setup guide or the IPTV Smarters Pro guide.
If the app isn't in the Play Store
App availability changes from time to time. If the player you want isn't listed, you can install it using the Downloader app, the same way people do on a Firestick. You'll need to allow installs from unknown sources for Downloader in Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions. Message us if you need the current download link.
Older Sony TVs
Very old Sony Smart TVs, from before Sony adopted Android around 2015, cannot run IPTV player apps. If yours is one of those, a Firestick in an HDMI port gives it everything a new TV has.
Getting the best picture on a Bravia
Sony's picture processing is among the best, so it's worth a few minutes of setup:
- Use Ethernet if you can. A wired connection is steadier than Wi-Fi for 4K.
- Try the Cinema or Custom picture mode for films, and Standard for sport.
- Adjust Motionflow to taste. Some people like it for football and switch it off for drama.
- Close unused apps. Bravia TVs have limited memory, and too many background apps can slow the player down.
More tips in our picture quality guide.
Common problems
- Buffering: usually Wi-Fi. See how to fix IPTV buffering.
- The TV feels slow: restart it fully by holding the power button on the remote until it reboots.
- No TV guide: see our EPG fix guide.
