IPTV on TCL TV: UK Setup Guide (2026)
TCL has become one of the best-selling TV brands in the UK, mostly because its sets offer large screens and good picture quality at low prices. Most recent TCL TVs are also very easy to set up for IPTV. The method depends on which system yours runs.
Which system does your TCL have?
- Google TV: most TCL models sold in the UK in recent years
- Android TV: many models from before about 2022
- Roku TV: some older and budget models
- Fire TV: a small number of models
The home screen usually makes it obvious, and you can confirm it under Settings → System → About.
TCL Google TV and Android TV
These models have the Google Play Store, so setup takes a few minutes:
- Open the Apps tab and search for an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters
- Install and open the app
- Add your playlist using the Xtream Codes login from your welcome message: server URL, username and password
- Let the channels and guide load
See our TiviMate guide for the app itself and the Android TV page for more on this platform.
TCL Fire TV models
If your TCL has Fire TV built in, it works exactly like a Firestick. Follow our Firestick setup guide from start to finish.
TCL Roku TV models
Roku's app store restricts IPTV players, so your options are limited on these sets. Our IPTV on Roku guide explains what currently works. For most Roku TV owners, the simplest answer is to plug a Firestick into a spare HDMI port and use that for IPTV.
Tips for budget TCL models
Entry-level TCL TVs have modest processors and memory. A few habits keep IPTV smooth:
- Restart the TV fully once a week instead of always leaving it in standby
- Uninstall apps you never use to free up storage
- Use the 5GHz Wi-Fi band or an Ethernet cable where possible
- If 4K channels stutter, switch to the Full HD version of the channel
If the TV's built-in system still feels sluggish, a Firestick 4K often runs IPTV apps faster than the TV itself.
Picture settings worth changing
Out of the box, many TCL sets are in a bright "Vivid" mode. Switch to Movie or Standard for a more natural picture, and turn motion smoothing down if films look like soap operas. Our picture quality guide has the full list.
