IPTV on Hisense TV: UK Setup Guide (2026)

Hisense TVs are everywhere in UK living rooms because they offer a big, sharp screen for a sensible price. Getting IPTV on one is easy on some models and awkward on others, and it all comes down to which operating system your TV runs. Here's how to find out and what to do in each case.

Step 1: Find out which system your Hisense runs

Hisense sells TVs in the UK with a few different systems:

  • VIDAA: Hisense's own system, found on most of its UK models
  • Google TV or Android TV: found on some models
  • Roku TV: found on some older and budget models

To check, press the Home button. If you see "VIDAA" on the home screen, that's your answer. You can also look in Settings → Support or About for the system name.

Hisense with Google TV or Android TV: the easy case

If your TV runs Google TV or Android TV, you have the full Google Play Store, and setup is the same as any Android box:

  1. Open the Google Play Store on the TV
  2. Search for an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters
  3. Install it, open it, and enter the login details from your welcome message

Our TiviMate setup guide covers the app step by step, and the Android TV page has more on this type of device.

Hisense with VIDAA: more limited

VIDAA has its own app store, and the selection of IPTV player apps is much smaller than on Android. Which apps are available changes over time and by model, so open the VIDAA app store and search for "IPTV" to see what your TV offers. If you find a player that accepts an M3U link or Xtream Codes login, it will work with your subscription.

You cannot install Android apps on VIDAA, and there is no supported way to sideload them. If a guide tells you otherwise, it is probably describing a different TV.

Hisense Roku TV

Roku's platform restricts IPTV player apps, so options are limited. See our dedicated guide to IPTV on Roku for what does and doesn't work.

The fix that works on every Hisense

If your TV's app store doesn't have a good IPTV player, the simplest answer is a Firestick plugged into a spare HDMI port. It costs less than a couple of months of most TV packages, gives you the best IPTV apps available, and it's often faster than the TV's built-in system anyway. Your Hisense screen does the displaying, and the Firestick does the thinking.

This is what we recommend to most VIDAA owners. Our Firestick setup guide takes about ten minutes to follow.

Getting the best picture

  • Use an HDMI port labelled 4K or HDMI 2.0/2.1 if your TV and stick both support 4K
  • Connect the TV or Firestick to your router by Ethernet if the Wi-Fi is weak in that room
  • Turn off motion smoothing in the TV's picture settings for sport if it looks unnatural
